Police in Busoga have arrested eight key suspects believed to have been behind a series of robberies and murders that have terrorized the region for a long time.
During the operation in Bugweri District, security forces recovered two firearms, 14 rounds of ammunition, and a silver motor vehicle, registration number UAZ 656D.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Namubona Aziz, 31; Wambi Fred, 40; Mugaya Grace, 49; Ayazika Godfrey, 52; Basalirwa Stephen, 39; Wamubiligwe Henry, 30; Takuwa Zainabu, 42; and Kwagala Suzan, 43.
In a statement issued on X, police confirmed the breakthrough, stating, “Busoga North Region has made a breakthrough in apprehending prime suspects in a series of robberies in the region. Eight suspects have been arrested for having terrorized the region for a long time.”
Following their arrest, the suspects, along with the recovered firearms and other exhibits, were transferred to Busoga North Region headquarters for further investigations.
“All the suspects plus the recovered exhibits were taken to Busoga North Region for further investigations,” police wrote.
