The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has taken a major step toward improving the efficiency of its national ID production process with the acquisition of four state-of-the-art card printing machines.
Each machine has the capacity to produce up to 3,000 national IDs per hour, a significant boost that will help reduce processing times and enhance overall service delivery.
These new machines are part of NIRA’s preparations for the upcoming National ID mass enrollment and renewal exercise, which will be conducted at the parish level.
The move is expected to streamline operations and ensure a smoother experience for Ugandans as they register or renew their national IDs.
In addition to the new machines, NIRA recently received over 5,000 registration kits, which have been vital in training client-facing staff, including Registration Assistants and Registration Officers.
The comprehensive training process is designed to ensure that staff are fully prepared for the mass registration campaign.
As part of this preparation, trainees were also subjected to exit tests, allowing NIRA to assess their readiness and make informed deployment decisions for maximum efficiency.
With these technological advancements and a well-trained team in place, NIRA is set to revolutionize the national ID registration and issuance process.
The progress made so far signals a promising reduction in delays and an enhanced ability to provide timely, reliable identification services to all Ugandans.
