Organizers of the Kabaka Mutebi Birthday Run in Buddu County have implemented strict regulations to ensure that the event remains a peaceful and focused celebration, free from political interference.

Participants have been strictly prohibited from displaying political symbols, slogans, or any signs of party affiliation at the event.

The marathon, which will take place on Sunday, is part of the festivities marking the 70th birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, with a primary emphasis on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.

This year’s event highlights the importance of involving men in protecting women’s health and preventing the spread of the disease.

Jude Muleke, also known as Pokino, the head of Buddu County, made it clear that political symbols, slogans, and any signs of party affiliations are strictly prohibited at the event.

With Uganda heading into an increasingly polarized political season, Muleke expressed concern that certain politicians might try to use the marathon as a platform to advance their campaigns, diverting attention from the event’s original purpose.

He emphasized that anyone caught wearing party-branded attire or chanting political slogans would be barred from participation in order to maintain harmony and prevent any disruptions.

Andrew Lugemwa, the Chairperson of the local Organizing Committee, added that the event would also be free from the presence of political groupings and gang-related activities, which often accompany political gatherings.

Security measures have been ramped up, with the collaboration of local authorities to prevent any potential disorder and ensure that the marathon proceeds smoothly.

In the lead-up to the event, Hajja Siraje Ssesazi, the Second Deputy Buddu County Chief, revealed that a series of health and counseling camps had been organized across the county.

These camps aim to remind the community, especially the youth, of the ongoing need for HIV prevention and management.

The camps also focus on promoting good leadership, hygiene, and environmental conservation practices, with the broader goal of increasing community resilience to the impacts of climate change.

This year’s Kabaka Mutebi Birthday Run is set to be a day of unity, health awareness, and community engagement, where political differences are set aside in favor of the shared goal of promoting public well-being.
