A quiet Uganda village becomes a scene of horror as a grandmother and her toddler granddaughter are brutally murdered in a coffee plantation. Police investigate the gruesome double homicide.

A quiet evening in Wakayamba village turned into horror after two family members a woman and her three-year-old granddaughter were found brutally murdered in a nearby coffee plantation.

The deceased have been identified as Nakato Specioza, a peasant and resident of Wakayamba village, and her granddaughter Sheilla.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, April 23, at around 9:00 PM but was only reported to the authorities the following morning.
According to a police statement issued by ASP Twiineamazima Sam, the Savannah Region Police spokesperson, Specioza’s 17-year-old son, Ssemambo Ibrahim, was sent by his mother to Wakayamba Trading Centre to buy groceries.
When he returned, he found the food still boiling unattended at the outdoor kitchen, with no sign of his mother or niece.
“He was alarmed to find the front security lights turned off, and upon entering the house, he discovered clothes scattered all over and several household items, including money, missing from their usual storage places,” said ASP Twiineamazima.
A blood-stained stick inside the house further heightened his fears. Ssemambo rushed to a neighbor, Sekibenga, and the two began a search.
They followed drag marks from the cooking area to a nearby coffee plantation, where they made the grim discovery Specioza and little Sheilla lying dead.
“The police responded swiftly upon receiving the report,” ASP Twiineamazima confirmed.
“We documented the scene, introduced a canine unit that led us to a suspect’s home, and made an arrest. Some exhibits have also been recovered from the scene to aid the investigation.”
The bodies were taken to Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem examinations, while police continue to investigate the motive behind the gruesome killings.
“A case of suspected murder has been registered, and we are pursuing every lead to ensure justice for the victims,” added ASP Twiineamazima.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations unfold. More details are expected in the coming days.
