ENTEBBE, Uganda — The Rotary Club of Entebbe has announced the appointment of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye as its next president, marking a significant leadership transition for the organization.
The announcement was made via the club’s official X account, formerly Twitter, in line with Rotary’s annual leadership renewal tradition.
“We are pleased to continue the Rotary tradition of leadership transition every rotary year. Our President Elect is the next humble leader of our club,” the statement read.
Kasingye, a well-known figure in Uganda’s public service, is scheduled to assume office on June 8, 2025. His installation ceremony will take place at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe.
A native of Sheema District, Kasingye joined the Uganda Police Force in 1986 and steadily advanced through the ranks, holding prominent positions such as Director of Interpol, Police Spokesperson, and Chief Political Commissar. He retired in September 2022 after a 34-year career.
Since retiring from the police force, Kasingye has remained active in public life, notably through his strong presence on social media, where he has garnered the moniker “President of Ugandans on Twitter.” He also serves as the Managing Director of Tayari Security Company, a private security firm based in Kampala.
His upcoming presidency of the Rotary Club of Entebbe underscores his continued commitment to civic service. It is anticipated that his leadership will focus on enhancing community outreach and supporting impactful projects within Entebbe and neighboring communities.
