Police have launched an intensive investigation into a deadly robbery that occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning at Chard Energy petrol station along Katosi Road in Mukono district.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, two armed assailants attacked the fuel station at around 4:02 AM, killing two private security guards and making off with cash and property.
“The attackers assaulted the guards, Senabulya Deo, aged 50, and Onyaiti Joseph, aged 25, using a blunt object. Unfortunately, both succumbed to the injuries at the scene,” SSP Onyango confirmed.
The suspects reportedly disarmed the guards, seizing their firearm with five rounds of ammunition. They then proceeded to rob the station’s pump attendants, identified as Tessa Jovita, 23, and Domanye Kevin, 22.
“They stole approximately three million shillings and mobile phones from the pump attendants,” Onyango stated. “We have since recovered the firearm abandoned near the railway line, which is now part of the evidence being reviewed.”
The police have documented the scene, taken statements from witnesses, and transported the bodies of the deceased to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
“Our investigations are ongoing, and we are pursuing all leads to bring the perpetrators to justice,” SSP Onyango added, urging members of the public with any relevant information to come forward.
Police say security around fuel stations and key service points in the area is being reviewed as part of efforts to prevent similar attacks.
