Chelsea FC etched their name into football history on Wednesday night after a dominant 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Europa Conference League final, becoming the first European club to win every major UEFA club competition.
The win, secured at Stadion Miejski in Wrocław, marks Chelsea’s first-ever Conference League title and completes a rare and historic clean sweep of UEFA silverware including the UEFA Champions League (2012, 2021), UEFA Europa League (2013, 2019), UEFA Super Cup (1998, 2021), and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup (1971, 1998).
The night didn’t begin in Chelsea’s favor. Spanish side Real Betis took an early lead through Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who struck in the 9th minute to shock the Londoners and put the Andalusians ahead going into the break.
However, a revitalized second-half performance masterminded by newly appointed head coach Enzo Maresca saw Chelsea roar back into the contest.
Midfield general Enzo Fernández leveled the score in the 65th minute with a towering header from a pinpoint Cole Palmer cross.
Just five minutes later, Nicolas Jackson chested home another delivery from Palmer, turning the tide in Chelsea’s favor.
Substitute Jadon Sancho added a third in the 83rd minute with a spectacular curling shot into the top corner, before Moisés Caicedo sealed the victory in added time with a clinical strike to complete the 4-1 rout.
Real Betis, who had started brightly and were chasing their first European title, struggled to contain Chelsea’s fluid attacking play in the second half and were ultimately overwhelmed by the Blues’ pace, depth, and technical superiority.
The result crowns a turbulent but ultimately rewarding season for Chelsea and brings instant success to Maresca, who lifts his first trophy at the helm of the West London club.
For Chelsea fans, it was a night of redemption and legacy a moment that cements the club’s place among Europe’s elite in an unprecedented fashion.
From London to Wrocław, the Blues’ faithful can now boast a trophy cabinet unmatched in continental club competition.
