Kololo Ceremonial Grounds will on Thursday, June 5, 2025, host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as he delivers the State of the Nation Address, officially inaugurating the Fifth Session of the 11th Parliament.
The announcement was confirmed by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Adolf Mwesigye, who issued formal summons to all Members of Parliament to attend the constitutional event.
The proceedings will be aired live on UBC and various other media platforms.
The address comes in the wake of the closure of the Fourth Session on May 29, which was formally prorogued by Speaker Anita Among.
The end of the session marked the conclusion of all pending business before Parliament, including legislative bills, committee reports, and motions.
Reflecting on the performance of the past session, Speaker Among praised Parliament’s achievements despite the loss of two legislators Sarah Mateke, the Woman MP for Kisoro, and Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
“The House held 75 sittings, passed 33 bills, adopted 53 reports, and considered 213 urgent questions,” she said, urging MPs to carry the same momentum into the new session.
Among also noted that two new legislators were sworn in before the session closed Grace Ngabirano, representing Kisoro, and Luyimbazi Nalukola for Kawempe North.
As the Fifth Session opens, the focus now turns to the government’s legislative agenda and policy priorities for the coming year, which President Museveni is expected to outline in his keynote address.
