A devastating road crash along the busy Jinja-Kampala Highway on Wednesday night has left at least three people feared dead, with several others nursing critical injuries.
The incident unfolded around 10:00 PM at Biko Trading Center in Njero, Buikwe District, throwing the area into chaos as emergency teams rushed to the scene.
According to preliminary accounts, the collision involved a commuter Mini Bus bearing registration number UBR 565W, which was traveling in the direction of Kampala.
It is reported to have collided head-on with a cargo truck, whose registration details had not yet been confirmed at the time of reporting.
Moments after the initial crash, a third vehicle a taxi identified by its plate number UBA 061K rammed into the wreckage.
While the full extent of the damage remains unclear, authorities had not confirmed any fatalities or injuries among the taxi’s passengers by the time of filing this story.
Local police responded swiftly, cordoning off the crash site and initiating an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
Emergency responders were also deployed to extract victims from the mangled wreckage and provide first aid to the injured before transferring them to nearby health facilities.
Despite the severity of the crash, an official police statement has yet to be issued.
