The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has launched a countrywide recruitment campaign to enlist 434 qualified drivers as Probationer Police Constables, aimed at strengthening its transport and logistics capacity.
According to a statement issued by AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire, Director of Human Resource Management, the recruitment will target drivers for a range of vehicle categories, including light trucks, heavy commercial trucks, buses, coasters, minibuses, light 4×4 vehicles, and construction equipment.
Position Distribution:
Light Duty Trucks (C1): 5 positions
Heavy Commercial Trucks (CE): 30 positions
Buses (DE): 10 positions
Coasters (D): 5 positions
Minibuses (D1): 10 positions
Light 4×4 Vehicles (B): 364 positions
Construction Equipment (F): 10 positions
The selected candidates will undergo a 12-month Police Basic Training course and will take up roles involving vehicle maintenance, secure transportation of personnel and supplies, and other duties as assigned by commanding officers.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, applicants must:
Be Ugandan citizens with valid National Identification Numbers (NIN)
Hold a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or an equivalent qualification
Possess a valid driving permit for the specific vehicle class with a minimum of three years’ experience
Be physically and medically fit
Be willing to work long hours in demanding environments across the country
Have no criminal record and must not be former or serving members of any armed force
Exhibit good communication skills
Application Guidelines:
Interested candidates must submit handwritten applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Applications must include:
A photocopy of the UCE certificate
A valid driving permit
A copy of the National ID
Three recent passport-sized photos
Recommendation letters from their LCI, LCIII, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of their district of residence
All documents should be enclosed in a file folder and delivered to the nearest Police District or Divisional Headquarters by July 4, 2025.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for interviews at a later date.
