Football fans gearing up for the highly anticipated CHAN 2025 tournament at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole will need to adjust to a new reality, no physical tickets will be sold.

In a decisive move towards modernization and tighter security, the government, in line with CAF’s continental directive, has confirmed that all tickets for CHAN 2025 matches will be sold exclusively online.

Speaking to the media ahead of the tournament kickoff, Dr. Dennis Mugimba, Chairperson of the Communications and Signage Sub-Committee, said Uganda, along with co-hosts Kenya and Tanzania, is embracing a fully digital ticketing system.

“All ticket sales are only digital as of now. CAF has provided two options: use the internet link or scan a barcode using your phone, both directing you to the CAF ticketing portal,” Dr. Mugimba explained.

To secure a seat at the games, fans must select the “Book Now” option under Uganda on the portal. This leads to a detailed page showing available Group Stage fixtures set for August 4, 8, 11, and 15, with two matches scheduled per day.

A notable fixture will see South Africa face Uganda on August 18, the only match on that day.

Dr. Mugimba clarified that: “When you buy a ticket for a Group stage match, it allows you to watch all the matches of that day while in the stadium. In other words, if you enter the stadium to watch a match scheduled for 5 p.m., you are allowed to use the same ticket to remain in your seat and watch the next match that starts at 8 p.m.”

However, fans will not be allowed re-entry once they exit the stadium no second chances on the same ticket.

“If they exit the stadium’s gates, they cannot enter again to watch the second match of the day using the ticket that had earlier been scanned,” he cautioned.

Ticket pricing per match day:

Ordinary: UGX 10,000

Silver: UGX 30,000

Premium: UGX 50,000

The transition to a paperless ticketing system is aimed at curbing fraud, reducing crowd congestion at stadium gates, and streamlining fan experiences.

Dr. Mugimba urged the public to adapt early.

“This shift to digital ticketing is part of efforts to modernize event management and reduce security risks.”

With less than a week to kickoff, fans are encouraged to secure their tickets online and gear up for an electrifying tournament that will test not only football talent but also the region’s digital readiness.
