A spirit of pride and renewed purpose filled the air yesterday at the VIPPU headquarters in Nsambya as 629 recently promoted police officers were officially decorated in a pipping ceremony presided over by AIGP Wasswa David Ssengendo, the Director of Counter Terrorism at the Uganda Police Force.
But beyond the ceremonial glint of new insignia, AIGP Ssengendo delivered a message both sobering and inspiring: a call to greater responsibility, unwavering integrity, and decisive leadership.
The event, which was also attended by the Commandant of the Very Important Persons Protection Unit (VIPPU) and other senior officers from the Directorate, highlighted the continued effort of the Uganda Police Force to not only strengthen its command structure but to cultivate a culture of ethical leadership.
AIGP Ssengendo emphasized that in the face of modern security threats especially in counterterrorism and VIP protection leadership must be as much about accountability as it is about strategy.
The newly promoted officers were reminded that their elevation came with the responsibility of mentoring younger officers, enforcing the law impartially, and building public trust a cornerstone of effective policing.
