Property worth millions of shillings was reduced to ashes following a devastating fire that broke out at the Kiboko Enterprises Limited Annex Warehouse located in Kasambu Zone, Kisugu Parish, Makindye Division in Kampala District.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the fire broke out at around 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening. It was reported by two security guards stationed at the facility who noticed smoke billowing from the roof before alerting authorities.
“We responded to the incident and managed to fight off the fire,” ASP Owoyesigyire confirmed. “What we have so far established is that these premises belong to Kiboko Enterprises Limited, and they deal in a variety of commodities. At the moment, we are yet to determine what exactly was lost.”
He added that both warehouses including office space within the structures were completely engulfed in flames, burning from the lower to the upper sections.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, investigations are ongoing to establish the origin of the blaze and the total value of the destroyed property.
“We want to ascertain what exactly happened, what could have caused this fire, and also establish how much has been lost,” Owoyesigyire said. “We will provide more information as soon as it is available.”
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
