Police in Kasanje have arrested two men for allegedly vandalizing electricity poles in Kikaya Namugala village, Wakiso District.

The suspects, identified as God Katabarwa and Lukwago Sam, both residents of Bulete village, were apprehended during a joint foot patrol conducted by police and local community members.

According to a statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, the arrest was made possible through swift coordination between police officers, local leaders, and vigilant residents.

The suspects were caught red-handed at the scene.

“The arrest was made possible by quick information sharing between police and local leaders, as well as joint foot patrols with the community,” SSP Onyango said.

The two men are currently in police custody and are expected to face terrorism-related charges, which carry severe penalties under Ugandan law.

Vandalism of electricity infrastructure has been on the rise in some parts of the country, posing a serious threat to public safety and national development.

Police have warned that such acts will be met with the full force of the law.
