President Yoweri Museveni has committed to reward the Uganda Cranes with Shs1.2 billion for every victory they secure in the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

The pledge was delivered to the team by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among during a press briefing at Parliament, where she praised the President and First Lady Janet Museveni for their continuous support and enthusiasm for Ugandan football.

“Play with heart, play for your country, and play to win. The whole nation is behind you,” Speaker Among told the team, conveying the President’s message.

State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang further clarified that each player will receive Shs30 million for every win, a move aimed at boosting morale and encouraging top performance.

Support for the national team has also come from the private sector. Prominent businessman Hamis Kiggundu (Ham) pledged Shs20 million per win, while Speaker Among personally donated $20,000 to the team and committed to match the amount after each victory.

The Uganda Cranes will kick off their CHAN campaign against Algeria at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, and are aiming to make a strong impression. With the financial backing from the President and other stakeholders, the team is highly motivated to perform well and make the country proud.
