Chaos erupted at Ntare School on Sunday morning after students attacked four colleagues accused of engaging in homosexual acts.
Headteacher Saul Rwamporo said two of the targeted students escaped the mob, while the violence later shifted toward the head prefect, accused of protecting other alleged suspects.
One student was injured while fleeing and taken to hospital. Two others were rescued by staff before further harm.
Rwamporo condemned the violence, warning of tough disciplinary action. “Violence has no place here. We will hold all those involved accountable,” he said, adding that police have been involved in the investigations.
During the unrest, parts of the school were vandalised, with windows in the deputy headteacher’s office and the staffroom smashed.
Rwamporo noted that homosexuality cases have been reported at the school since 2023, calling it a worrying trend.
