The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has instructed all Heads of Examination Centres across the country to publicly display the 2025 candidates’ registers for verification between August 10 and October 10, 2025.

The directive also applies to District, City, and Municipal Inspectors of Schools, with registers expected to be displayed in conspicuous places both at schools and district headquarters.

UNEB Executive Director, Dan N. Odongo, said the exercise is critical to avoid situations where students are discovered unregistered on the eve of national examinations.

“This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios where students are discovered unregistered at the start of the examination period,” Mr. Odongo stressed.

He urged parents, particularly those whose children study in schools without UNEB centre status, to confirm where their learners were registered and ensure their names appear on the official lists.

UNEB has also introduced an SMS verification option. Candidates or parents can type REG, leave a space, insert the candidate’s full index number, and send it to 6600 to confirm registration status.

According to Mr. Odongo, the responsibility of checking the registers lies jointly with heads of centres, candidates, and parents. He advised them to carefully review details such as names, date of birth, gender, index numbers, photographs, and registered subjects.

“It is the responsibility of Heads of Centres, candidates and parents to critically analyse the registers and confirm the accuracy of the candidates’ biodata,” he said.

Where discrepancies are found, UNEB has outlined correction procedures. For PLE candidates, schools must fill amendment forms available on the UNEB portal. For UCE and UACE candidates, schools must write formal requests to UNEB and attach supporting documents such as National ID cards or birth certificates.

Mr. Odongo further reminded schools to comply with the Personal Data Privacy and Protection Act, ensuring that only relevant candidate details are displayed.

For further assistance, UNEB has provided hotlines including 041-777-3100, 0312-206-300, toll-free number 0800-111-427, and customer care lines 0760-131-261, 0776-865-556, and 0776-993-335.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Odongo commended parents, teachers, inspectors, and candidates for successfully participating in the registration process.

“Let us now use the registers to ensure that the data submitted is accurate,” he said.
