Police Force has arrested 22 suspects during an intelligence-led night operation in the areas of Katoogo and Kinawataka, following growing community concerns about rising cases of phone snatching and robberies.
The operation, conducted on September 2, 2025, between 10 p.m. and midnight, targeted criminals who have been taking advantage of prolonged load-shedding and darkness caused by a faulty transformer in the area.
According to police, the suspects were found in possession of breaking implements and knives.
They are currently detained at Kinawataka Police Station pending screening.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the operation and said similar deployments will continue.
“The suspects we arrested were found with dangerous weapons and breaking implements. We shall continue to carry out such intelligence-led operations to combat criminality and ensure residents feel safe in their communities,” Onyango said.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as measures to restore order and security in the affected areas intensify.
