84 Ethiopian Churches Adopt Shincheonji Name in Landmark Ceremony

In a move described as a turning point for Ethiopia’s Christian community, 84 churches across 10 cities have officially changed their signboards to read Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony.

The announcement came during the “Ethiopia 84 Churches Signboard Changing Ceremony” hosted by the Peter Tribe of Shincheonji on September 10. At the event, pastors from the participating churches publicly declared their membership in Shincheonji Church of Jesus, pledging to preach the Word of the New Covenant Revelation and to unite through the “revealed Word.”

This wave of transformation traces back to Pastor Asefa Angeto, President of the Misgana Denomination Association, who attended the “2nd Global Invitation Revelation Seminar” at Shincheonji Cheongju Church in November last year.

Upon his return, Pastor Asefa launched a series of local seminars, spreading what he had learned to congregations across Ethiopia.

He has since visited more than 100 churches in 10 cities, testifying to the revealed Word.

At the commemorative ceremony, the pastors issued a collective declaration.

“We have become members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, having mastered the Word of the New Covenant Revelation. We resolve to preach this Word throughout Ethiopia, so that both pastors and believers alike may follow only the truth and devote themselves more fervently to the ministry of the Word.”

Shincheonji representatives hailed the development as more than a symbolic signboard change, framing it as a step toward a Word-centered renewal.

A spokesperson for the Peter Tribe explained the broader impact:

“Currently, 181 pastors in Ethiopia are learning the revealed Word from Shincheonji Church of Jesus. We will continue to make known the fact that the prophecies of Revelation have been fulfilled today, and we will do our utmost so that churches around the world may become united through the Word.”

Observers view the mass adoption of Shincheonji’s identity by Ethiopian churches as one of the most significant moments in the movement’s expansion, marking the beginning of what organizers describe as a nationwide shift toward the New Covenant Revelation.
