According to UEDCL, Mutalya, a resident of Nakuwade, was not employed by the company or any contractors authorized to perform electrical maintenance on the distribution network.
He was attempting an illegal connection on a 33kV feeder from Mutundwe Substation when the incident occurred at around 3:00 pm.
“We sympathize with the family of the departed. May the spirit of the departed find eternal peace,” said Jonan Kiiza, Head of Corporate & Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL.
The company said investigations are ongoing, and a case has been filed at the Natete Police Station.
UEDCL warned the public, especially unauthorized individuals locally referred to as “Kamyufus,” against tampering with the electricity distribution network due to the severe risk to human life.
