Lapaire Uganda has opened its 19th branch, located in Kawempe Ku Ttaano, marking its 15th branch in the Kampala region. This move is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand access to eye care services across Uganda.

John Hillary Balyejusa, the Public Relations and Communications Officer at Lapaire, while launching their new offices
emphasized the company’s commitment to making eye care more accessible to all Ugandans.

“We are opening our 19th branch in Uganda, which is also the 15th in the Kampala metropolitan area. The goal is to bring eye care to every African,” said Balyejusa.

“At Lapaire, we believe that clear sight changes everything. We know that proper eye care is essential for a good quality of life.”

Lapaire offers free eye tests at all its branches. If needed, their team assists customers in selecting affordable eyewear, with prices starting at UGX 105,000.

“We aim to make eye care accessible to everyone, even those living on low or medium incomes. That’s why we offer transparent pricing and flexible payment plans,” Balyejusa added.

The company is also working to increase awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups.

“Eye defects often develop without pain, so by the time people feel discomfort, it’s often too late. We encourage people to get an eye test at least once a year, or even twice for those who can,” he explained.

“The UV rays from the sun in Kampala and the surrounding areas can cause serious eye problems, so it’s essential to check your eyes regularly.”

The branch opening was accompanied by free eye check-ups for the Kawempe community.

Local residents received expert advice on how to protect their eyes and were given recommendations for eyewear when necessary.

Balyejusa also highlighted the shortage of eye specialists in Uganda, with only about 500 professionals serving a population of nearly 50 million people.

“We have only two institutions in Uganda that train eye specialists, which is not enough to meet the demand. We encourage students and parents to consider optometry as a career path,” he said.

Lapaire Uganda plans to reach its milestone of one million eye tests in the next few weeks as part of its mission to improve eye care access across Africa.
