The Uganda Police Force has made a breakthrough in its fight against a spate of robberies in Mukono District, arresting four suspects following an intelligence-led operation.
Police, relying on CCTV footage from Mukono Central Police Station, apprehended the suspects while they were traveling in a Toyota Hiace with registration number UBJ 343H, which has been impounded. Seven mobile phones were recovered and are being held as evidence.
The four arrested suspects identified as; Batambuze David, 32, a driver at Bunamwaya taxi stage, Mulira Ronald, 30, resident of Natete, Serukenya Abdul, 40, resident of Nyejje-Goma, Mukono District, Ssemanda Shafiq, 28, resident of Kibiri-Busabala and Ainambabazi Tasha, 20, bar attendant at Namasuba
However, four others remain at large, including Tifu (the driver), Caros, Ashiraf, and Ibra. Investigations are ongoing to track them down and identify additional accomplices linked to the robbery spree.
Speaking on the operation, Police PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, SSP Patrick Onyango, said that police will continue to crackdown suspects involved in these robberies.
“This operation is part of a broader effort to combat crime in the region. We will continue to pursue all suspects involved in these robberies and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
