President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday officially launched the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto for the 2026–2031 term at Speke Resort Munyonyo, highlighting peace, job creation, and wealth creation as the cornerstones of the party’s vision.
Flanked by First Lady and Education Minister Maama Janet Museveni, the President reflected on the NRM’s historic role in liberating Uganda from dictatorship between 1965 and 1986, saying the courage and sacrifice of its leaders brought the stability the country enjoys today.
“The greatest legacy of the NRM has been the peace and security we now enjoy, thanks to the dedicated people of Uganda—the wanainchi—and the UPDF,” Museveni said.
He outlined three key pillars for Uganda’s transformation: development, infrastructure, and wealth creation.
The President noted that with 40 million acres of arable land, Uganda holds the potential to create more than 105 million jobs if resources are harnessed productively.
“By harnessing these resources effectively, we can provide abundant employment opportunities right here at home,” he emphasized.
The manifesto launch sets the tone for the ruling party’s 2026 campaign, with the NRM promising to build on its record of stability while accelerating socio-economic transformation.
