Kampala Metropolitan Police have launched a search for Masaka City Woman MP NRM flag bearer, Justin Nameere, and her husband after they were accused of assaulting and robbing presidential advisor Jennifer Nakangubi, popularly known as Full Figure.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Patrick Onyango, Full Figure filed a complaint claiming that the couple attacked her last Friday along Kyadondo Road, before allegedly taking her mobile phone and Shs500,000 in cash.
“Her statement has been recorded at Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters. Detectives have also visited the scene and identified witnesses. Investigations are underway to trace the suspects,” Onyango confirmed on Sunday.
The altercation is believed to have stemmed from political rivalry during the recently concluded NRM Central Region CEC elections.
Nameere, a daughter of former Defence Minister Vincent Ssempijja, reportedly supported businessman Moses Karangwa, while Full Figure openly campaigned for Minister Haruna Kasolo, who eventually won the hotly contested race.
The feud, which had played out on social media with bitter exchanges between the two camps, escalated into physical violence on Friday.
Viral videos circulating online show Full Figure being beaten by two men as a woman’s voice is heard accusing her of “abusing my husband.” One of the men is heard repeatedly confronting her, demanding to know why she insulted him.
By press time, neither Nameere nor her husband had publicly responded to the accusations.
Police have called on the suspects to record statements as investigations continue.
