The National Drug Authority (NDA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal drug operations, shutting down five pharmacies and arresting five individuals in the districts of Soroti, Ngora, Bukedea, Kaberamaido, and Moroto.
During the enforcement operation, NDA officials also impounded more than 200 boxes of assorted medicines valued at over UGX 100 million. The suspects were found running pharmacies without the required practicing licenses.
Confirming the development, NDA said the action is part of its routine surveillance to protect the public from unsafe and substandard medicines.
