Police has arrested 33 suspects in a major intelligence-led operation conducted in Kira Division on the night of September 16, 2025.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, the operation, which began at 9:00 pm, targeted crime-prone areas of Mbalwa, Kakajjo, and Kireku, following increased reports of criminality linked to narcotics.
“Thirteen suspects were arrested in Mbalwa and another twenty in Kakajjo (Koboko zone) and Kireku. They have been charged with possession of narcotic substances. Exhibits of opium were recovered and are now part of the investigation,” SSP Onyango said.
He explained that the operation was carefully planned, with specific hotspots mapped out and teams briefed on professional conduct before deployment.
“The exercise met its objectives, and similar operations will continue as part of our efforts to curb crime in Kira Division and other parts of Kampala Metropolitan area,” he added.
Police emphasized that intelligence-led policing remains central to addressing crime hotspots, particularly in areas where narcotics fuel other forms of criminal activity.
