The territorial police at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala have arrested four suspects in an operation targeting phone and vehicle side mirror thieves in the city centre.
The crackdown was conducted during heavy traffic hours, when such thefts are most common.
Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to rid the city of criminals who prey on motorists and pedestrians.
“The operation will continue in a bid to cleanse the city of wrong elements so as to enhance public safety,” police said in a statement.
Authorities have pledged to sustain the operation until offenders are brought to book and order is restored in the city’s busiest spots.
