The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced a planned power shutdown affecting several areas served by the Ntinda Substation Today, Friday September 5, 2025, to allow for maintenance and system improvement works.
According to UEDCL, the blackout will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering areas such as Ntinda TC, Kalinabiri, Kulambiro, Kisaasi TC, Dungu Zone, Ssebagala Zone, Komamboga, Kisaasi-Kyanja Road, Kigoowa, Kiwatule, Najjera 1 and 2, Bukoto TC, Naguru, Minister’s Village, Kisota, Bahai, part of Ntinda Industrial Area, and Kyambogo University.
Jonan Kiiza, Head of Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL, explained that the shutdown is necessary to improve reliability of supply.
“This shutdown is to allow our technical team to safely carry out maintenance and system improvement works,” Kiiza said.
He added that UEDCL regrets any disruptions this may cause to customers.
“Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” he noted.
