The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced a planned power shutdown affecting customers served by Kireka and Nakawa Substations today Sunday, September 7, 2025.
According to the notice, the shutdown will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to allow technical teams to carry out routine maintenance works safely.
The affected areas include: Kyaliwajjala, Namugongo, Banda, Kinawataka, Kyambogo, Kireka, Kamuli, Mbalwa, Kimbejja, Kirundambata, Kasokoso, Mbuya, Namboole, Kireku, Kazinga, Bweyogerere, Kirinya, Bukasa, Butto, Namanve, Kakajjo, Biina, Radio Maria, Mutungo, Kiduuka, Kunya, Nadiope Road, Pepsi, Nomi, Face Technology, Nakawa Vocational Institute (JIKA), CMI, Ismail Road, Serunkuma Road, and Zone 7.
UEDCL emphasized that the shutdown is necessary to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply in the long run.
“This planned outage is to allow our technical team to safely carry out maintenance works. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers,” said Jonan Kiiza, Head Corporate & Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL.
The company further assured its customers that normal supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise is complete.
