The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the official timetable for the 2025 national examinations, covering PLE, UCE and UACE, under the theme “Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment.”
The series will begin with a briefing of UCE candidates on October 10, 2025, followed by PLE on October 31 and UACE on November 7. UCE ends on November 8, PLE on November 4, while UACE runs until December 5.
UNEB confirmed that 1,416,468 candidates have registered this year—a 7.5% rise from 2024. Of these, 51.5% are female and 48.5% male.
The breakdown includes 818,010 for PLE, 432,025 for UCE, and 166,433 for UACE. Special Needs Education learners total 4,802, reflecting a 4.5% increase.
The Board noted that 51% of candidates are government-sponsored, while 49% are privately funded.
Heads of examination centers can access timetables via the school portal, while hard copies and Braille versions for SNE candidates are also available. All schools are directed to display the timetables on noticeboards.
Under the Competency-Based Curriculum, UNEB reminded schools that Continuous Assessment contributes 20% of a learner’s grade, with End of Cycle exams at 80%.
Term II Senior Four CA and Project scores must be submitted by September 30, 2025, or affected candidates will not be graded.
The Board also warned against false reporting of SNE cases, citing added costs and unfair advantage. Candidates were cautioned against indiscipline, which could lead to suspension or disqualification.
To aid preparation, UNEB has published updated past paper booklets, including 2024 exams, available at the Publications Office.
