ASP Clive Nsiima, the police officer seen in a viral video assaulting a supermarket attendant, has been remanded to October 16, 2025, after appearing before the City Hall Court in Kampala on charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

Nsiima appeared before the magistrate on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to the two counts related to the incident in which he is accused of assaulting a supermarket attendant, Pellan Atuhumuriize, at a Shell fuel station in Kyanja, Nakawa Division.

According to the charge sheet, the officer allegedly assaulted Atuhumuriize and destroyed her Infinix smartphone during a confrontation that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, sparking public outrage.

The victim and her family were present in court to follow the proceedings.

Nsiima’s defense lawyer informed the court that both parties have since engaged in reconciliation discussions, noting that there is a possibility of an amicable settlement. However, the prosecution maintained that the matter should proceed in accordance with the law.

The magistrate ordered that Nsiima be remanded until October 16, when the case will return for mention.
