Diocese of Jinja Mourns Passing of Bishop Charles Martin Wamika

The Diocese of Jinja is mourning the death of its Bishop, Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika, who passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 22, 2025, at 16:00 hours.

In a statement, the Diocesan Chancellor, Fr. Gerald Muto, announced the loss with “deep sorrow and Christian hope in the resurrection,” urging the clergy, religious men and women, and lay faithful both within and outside the diocese to remember the late Bishop in their prayers.

Fr. Muto said, “It is with deep sorrow and Christian hope in the resurrection that the Diocese of Jinja announces the passing on of our beloved shepherd, Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika, Bishop of Jinja, who passed on today afternoon Wednesday 22nd October 2025 at 16:00hrs. The funeral program will be communicated later. We invite all the Clergy, Religious and the Faithful to keep our fallen Bishop Wamika in your prayers. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

The Diocese did not immediately release details about the funeral program but promised to communicate the arrangements in due course.

Bishop Wamika’s passing marks the end of an era for the Diocese of Jinja, where he served as a spiritual leader and guide to the faithful.
