Nakisunga LCIII Chairperson, Sekikubo Mubarak, was remanded to prison on Monday following his arraignment in Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court over allegations of selling government jobs. He is expected back in court on November 4, 2025.

Mubarak is accused of conspiring with Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, the Probation & Welfare Officer of Lugazi Municipality, and Dr. Wataba Saadi, who remains at large, to defraud a job applicant, Dr. Mukisa George William, of UGX 38 million.

The trio allegedly promised to secure him a position as a Medical Officer in Mukono District, claiming the money would influence members of the Mukono District Service Commission.

“The accused allegedly conspired to defraud a job applicant of UGX 38,000,000 by falsely claiming they could secure him a government job,” said the Anti-Corruption Unit.

Investigators say this is not an isolated incident, with the officials allegedly extorting money from other job applicants in the district. Investigations into additional related cases are ongoing.
