President Museveni on Monday concluded his campaign tour of the West Nile sub-region with a large rally at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani District, where he thanked residents for their support and pointed to peace and development as key achievements under the NRM government.

Museveni said West Nile is now enjoying a level of peace and security never seen before, crediting it to the NRM’s approach to unity and inclusive politics.

“There is peace and security in West Nile and indeed all of Uganda for the first time in our history, thanks to the NRM’s politics of unity,” he said.

He highlighted infrastructure projects such as the Moyo–Yumbe–Laropi–Koboko–Arua highway, expansion of electricity access, and improvements in health and education services as signs of progress.

“The population growth itself testifies to improved health and education,” he noted.

Museveni admitted that corruption by some officials has slowed progress in some sectors but said the government is introducing skilling hubs to equip young people with practical skills and fight unemployment.

“Even where corruption by some officials has caused challenges, we have provided alternatives like the skilling hubs,” he said.

On the health sector, he said the biggest challenge remains drug theft in government facilities, promising stricter oversight.

“We shall use computers and trusted, God-fearing people to monitor this vice,” he assured.

The President said the wealth creation campaign is gaining ground in West Nile, pointing to testimonies from local leaders as proof that people are beginning to embrace income-generating activities.

He thanked the people of Pakwach, Nebbi, Zombo, Obongi, Madi-Okollo, Arua, Koboko, Yumbe, Moyo, Terego, Maracha, and Adjumani for their strong support.

“You have welcomed us with great hospitality, and we shall do even more,” he said.

Museveni is expected to continue his campaign trail in the Acholi sub-region next.
