President Museveni has called on Ugandans to embrace peace, development, wealth creation, and education as the four key pillars for transforming their communities and the country at large.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Kitgum Municipality on Thursday, the President said these principles remain the foundation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the driving force behind Uganda’s progress over the decades.
“I call upon you people to uphold the four pillars of transformation: peace, development, wealth creation, and education. These are the foundation for changing our communities and the entire country,” Museveni said.
He reminded the people of Northern Uganda that peace was achieved through rejecting divisions based on tribe or religion, focusing instead on unity and service.
“The NRM built peace by rejecting sectarianism. We said we don’t care about tribe or religion, but about capability and service. That is how we united Uganda and built a strong army,” he stated.
Museveni also highlighted the government’s continued efforts to promote development through improved infrastructure in the region.
“After peace comes development. We have extended tarmac roads, electricity, and safe water across Northern Uganda, and more schools and health centres are being planned,” he said.
However, the President urged citizens to distinguish between development and wealth, noting that personal prosperity depends on individual effort.
“But remember: development is not wealth. The government can provide infrastructure, but it is you, the people, who must create wealth in your homes,” he emphasized.
Museveni’s message in Kitgum was part of his ongoing campaign trail across Northern Uganda, where he continues to rally support for the NRM ahead of the 2026 general elections.
