Kampala, October 31, 2025 – The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced a day-long planned power shutdown today, Friday, October 31, affecting several areas supplied by the Waligo Substation as engineers undertake critical maintenance works.
The outage, which runs from 8:00am to 5:00pm, will affect residents and businesses in Najjera, Kyanja, Kasangati, Gayaza Town Council, and neighbouring areas.
Other affected locations include Kungu, Buwate, Jomayi, Kabanyoro, Magigye, Bukemba, Buwaga, Ugachick, Nalyamagonja, Makenke, Komamboga, Kitala, parts of Kisasi, Kesington, Waligo, Kitetika, Kumukaga, Cementer, Sekanyonyi, Nangabo, Luteete, Bumbu, Kakomera, Kazinga, Wampewo, Kidde, Seeta-Magere, Gyagenda, Masooli, Busukuma, Bamba, Kitegombwa, Bulamu, Namavundu, Kijudde, Nalusuga, and Namulonge.
UEDCL urged consumers in the affected areas to take precautionary measures.
“We advise all customers to switch off their electrical appliances during this maintenance period until power is safely restored,” said Jonan Kiiza, UEDCL’s Head of Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs. “This planned shutdown is necessary to enhance the stability and reliability of our electricity network.”
The utility company apologized for the inconvenience and appreciated the public for their patience as it works to improve power supply infrastructure.
