The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers captured on video assaulting a female petrol station attendant, an incident that sparked outrage after circulating widely on social media on Monday, October 7, 2025.
According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, preliminary investigations have identified the suspect as ASP Nsiima, a serving police officer.
The officer has since been apprehended and detained in police custody pending further investigations.
“Our preliminary investigations point to ASP Nsiima, a police officer, as the suspect. The officer has been apprehended and detained in police custody. He will be brought to account as soon as investigations are complete,” said Kituuma.
He further revealed that the police have already reached out to the victim and witnesses to obtain detailed accounts of the incident, adding that the Force strongly condemns the officer’s actions.
“We condemn this behaviour as it contravenes our disciplinary code,” he emphasized, assuring the public that the institution remains committed to upholding professionalism and accountability among its personnel.
The video, which shows a male client attacking a female attendant at a Shell petrol station, has drawn widespread condemnation from the public, with many calling for swift justice.
Police have pledged to update the public on the progress of the investigations.
