Police is set to recruit 100,000 Special Police Constables to enhance security during the upcoming general elections.

In a statement signed by AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the recruits will serve on a three-month contract and will each earn a monthly salary of UGX 469,000.

“Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to serve with the Uganda Police Force on a three months’ contract as Election Special Police Constables,” the statement reads.

The temporary officers will be deployed in their respective districts of residence to assist in maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the elections.

According to the Police, applicants must be Ugandan citizens aged 18 years and above, possess a National Identity Card, and have at least a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) certificate. They must also have good conduct, be physically fit, and registered voters in their areas of recruitment.

“Successful candidates should be nationalistic, patriotic, ready to work long hours and under difficult conditions,” AIGP Kamunanwire noted.

He added that individuals with a proven record of volunteerism with the Police Force will have an added advantage.

The recruitment exercise will also prioritize gender inclusivity.

“Women are encouraged to apply,” Kamunanwire emphasized.

All applications must be handwritten and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, accompanied by photocopies of academic documents, a national ID, a recent passport-size photograph, and recommendation letters from the LCI, LCIII, and GISO of the applicant’s area.

Applications should be delivered to the Police District or Divisional Headquarters not later than November 1, 2025.

The Police warned against any form of forgery or impersonation during the recruitment exercise.

“Impersonation and presentation of any forged documents shall lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law,” the statement cautioned.

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews on dates to be communicated later.
