A businessman accused of violently attempting to take over land belonging to St. Luke Church of Uganda has been remanded to prison by the Gulu Chief Magistrate’s Court.
On Monday, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with CID and the ODPP, produced Abola Peter in court on charges of forcible entry. He will remain in custody until December 10, 2025.
Prosecution says that between October and November 20, 2025, Abola entered the Church’s 18-acre property at Koro Abili Village in Omoro District and attempted to assume control. He allegedly transported concrete poles, wire mesh, and chain links to the site and began fencing off parts of the land, including the section hosting a Health Centre II that serves the community.
Authorities report that his actions blocked public access to the health facility and forced staff off the premises, despite him having no lawful court order.
Historical records indicate that St. Luke Church of Uganda has occupied the land since 1926, running a church, a primary school, and the health centre without any known dispute until this incident.
Abola will return to court next month as investigations continue.
