Mbarara–Ishaka Road Temporarily Closed for Emergency Repairs

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has temporarily closed a section of the Mbarara–Ishaka Road today, Friday, November 7, 2025, to carry out urgent maintenance works.

The closure affects Km 3+500 at Ruharo to Km 3+900 near the Buffalo Restaurant roundabout, with the main repairs focused at Km 3+700 near Woodland Gardens.

Permanent Secretary Bageya Waiswa said the closure is essential for safety and road restoration.

“We advise drivers to use alternative routes. Heavy trucks and buses should take the Mbarara bypass via Coca-Cola and Ruti roundabouts, while light vehicles can use Ntare-Kyamugurani road to reconnect with the highway,” Waiswa said.

The works will run from 9:00 a.m. to midnight. The Ministry thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
