Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested 204 suspects during coordinated operations targeting criminal hideouts, drug abusers, and habitual offenders across the city and surrounding districts between November 4 and 5, 2025.

Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said: “The Police in Kampala Metropolitan has continued to conduct coordinated operations across several divisions. Between 4th and 5th November 2025, criminal hideouts, drug abusers, and habitual offenders who have been terrorising communities in urban and peri-urban areas were targeted.”

In Kajjansi Division, operations in Lweza B, Kilyamuli, Akright, and Kawotto led to the arrest of 44 suspects involved in marijuana smoking, theft, and other acts of public nuisance. Two juveniles were also intercepted while attempting to break into a poultry house.

Old Kampala Division saw 60 suspects arrested in Namungona, Nakulabye, the New Taxi Park, and Mukwano Roundabout for possession of breaking implements, suspected narcotics, and attempts to commit felonies.

In Kabalagala Division, 45 individuals were apprehended in Nsamya, Kamwanyi, and Kataba over drug possession and street mugging.

Matugga Division operations targeted phone and bag snatchers and drug users along the Matugga–Gulu Highway, Gombe, and Lwadda areas. In Mukono District, police carried out multiple operations resulting in 9 arrests at Katwe–Bukerere, 8 at Namave Industrial Park, and 30 across Kitega, Wantoni, Benghazi, and Kikooza. Kira Division operations in Nsasa and Bulindo led to the arrest of 8 suspects found with suspected narcotics.

Owoyesigyire emphasized that all suspects are undergoing screening and will be processed for prosecution in courts of law.

He further appreciated the support of local leaders and community members for providing information that has been crucial in dismantling criminal networks.

“The cooperation of the public has been instrumental in our operations and will continue to be vital in keeping our communities safe,” he added.

This crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts of Kampala Metropolitan Police to curb crime and ensure safety in both urban and peri-urban areas.
