The Uganda Police Force has strengthened its operational capacity ahead of the ongoing elections with the deployment of 162 vehicles and 1,040 motorcycles to regions and sub-counties across the country.
The fleet was officially handed over on Friday by AIGP James Apora, the Director of Logistics and Engineering, who said the equipment is intended to improve local policing and enhance the Force’s ability to respond quickly to crime.
AIGP Apora noted that the deployment is part of a broader effort to close security gaps, improve service delivery, and reinforce police visibility at the community level. Each sub-county will receive two motorcycles to support routine patrols, faster incident response, and closer engagement with the public. 
He urged local leaders and police commanders to ensure the newly deployed assets are used responsibly and fully accounted for, emphasizing the importance of proper management in sustaining the Force’s operational readiness.
AIGP Apora also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for their continued support in strengthening police mobility and capacity.
The additional fleet is expected to significantly bolster security operations nationwide, particularly during the heightened demands of the election period.
