The Territorial Police in Oyam District conducted an intelligence-led operation on 25th November 2025, leading to the recovery of approximately forty motorcycle number plates suspected to be from stolen motorcycles.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, Northern Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, said the operation was conducted after receiving credible intelligence.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the Oyam Police raided Ajali Opoo Village, Adel Parish, Minakulu Sub-county,” he stated.
During the raid, police recovered number plates buried in a banana plantation, along with a box containing spanners and tools commonly used for dismantling or modifying motorcycles.
“Three bundles of dried opium and other items linked to criminal activity were also seized,” Okema added.
No arrests have been made so far, but authorities are actively pursuing the suspects, some of whom are already known to the police.
Okema urged community members to cooperate with security forces to ensure the culprits are apprehended.
“We urge community members to work closely with security forces to ensure that these criminals are captured and brought to justice,” he said.
The police operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb motorcycle theft and related criminal activity in the region.
