Three men have been remanded to prison by the Wakiso Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges related to illegal eviction and destruction of property belonging to long-time landowners in Bukasa, Busiro County.
The accused, identified as Ssejjombwe Ibrahim, Kyeyune Allan, and Musoke Joseph, face several charges including forcible entry, malicious damage to property, eviction of bona fide occupants without a court order, theft, and destruction of growing plants.
Court heard that between January and October 2025, the suspects, together with others still on the run, allegedly mobilized a group of men armed with pangas and sticks and violently entered land comprised in Block 314, Plot 846, situated in Bukasa, Wakiso District.
The land, which belongs to Dr. Paul Biriibwa and Peter Biriibwa, was reportedly graded and several properties were destroyed during the attack. The damaged property included residential houses for workers, animal shelters, a perimeter wall, water tanks, trees, coffee and banana plantations, cameras, solar systems, and a 40-foot container.
Investigations later revealed that the accused had no legal ownership documents or evidence to support their claim to the land. Findings also indicated that the complainants have occupied the property for more than 20 years, holding a valid land title issued in 2001.
Authorities say the suspects carried out the eviction and destruction without any court order, making their actions unlawful.
The three suspects were subsequently charged and remanded until November 19, 2025, as investigations into the case continue.
