President Museveni on Wednesday used his second rally in Mityana to pledge new road projects and improvements in water access for the district, highlighting the NRM’s long-term development agenda.
Museveni traced the history of infrastructure development in the area, noting that the NRM began efforts to link production to markets decades ago.
“At one time, we partnered with investors from Yugoslavia through a barter arrangement, using agricultural produce to construct the Mityana–Mubende road,” he said, adding that the road network was later extended through Fort Portal all the way to the Congo border.
Looking ahead, the President promised to construct the Kakono–Manyi–Mubende–Sekanyonyi–Busunjju road to further improve connectivity in the region.
He also reiterated plans to expand access to clean water, noting that coverage in Mityana currently stands at 86 percent.
The rally highlighted Museveni’s focus on connecting communities, boosting local trade, and ensuring that infrastructure and essential services continue to reach all parts of the district.
