Museveni to Commission Hoima Stadium Tomorrow

President Yoweri Museveni is set to officially commission the Hoima City Stadium tomorrow, Wednesday, marking a major milestone in Uganda’s sports infrastructure development.

The state-of-the-art multi-sports facility, located in Hoima City, was recently handed over to the National Council of Sports (NCS) by Turkish contractors SUMMA after completion of construction. The commissioning ceremony will form part of activities ushering in the Christmas festivities.

The stadium, valued at about USD 129 million, is one of the flagship projects under Uganda’s sports infrastructure expansion drive and was completed five months ahead of schedule. It is expected to host both local and international sporting events, boosting sports tourism and economic activity in the Bunyoro sub-region.

Government officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Works and Transport, NCS leadership, and Hoima City authorities are expected to attend the commissioning, alongside athletes, sports administrators, and members of the public.

The opening of Hoima City Stadium adds to Uganda’s growing portfolio of modern sports facilities and underscores government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent and positioning the country as a regional sports hub.
