Tororo residents were left shocked on Sunday morning after the lifeless body of a Kenyan woman, identified as Rehema from Bungoma, was discovered in Malaba North Cell, Malaba Town Council.
According to police, the woman was found around 6:00 am on 8th December 2025, lying in a pool of blood. Community members immediately raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.
The investigation quickly involved the district’s K-9 unit, with officer dog Vegas deployed to track potential leads. The dog picked up a human scent at the scene and navigated through the corridors of several houses over a distance of approximately 100 metres, eventually leading officers to the bedroom of Musa Loketo, a resident of Malaba North Cell.
Although Loketo was not at home initially, police later traced and arrested him. A search of his residence, conducted in the presence of the area chairperson, revealed bloodstains inside his room and on the door. Authorities also recovered quantities of dried marijuana.
Exhibits, including blood samples, were collected for forensic analysis to strengthen the case against the suspect.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing. Residents in Malaba North Cell expressed both shock and relief after the arrest, praising the swift action of the K-9 unit.
