Police in Kampala have opened investigations into a violent robbery and assault incident at a popular bar in Munyonyo, in which Zari Hassan’s husband, Shakib, has been summoned to assist with inquiries.
According to the police, the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, at Chezz Boss Mutoto Bar in Munyonyo. A group of suspects reportedly stormed the establishment, attacked patrons and robbed them of their mobile phones.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly led by Shakibu, a businessman operating in the Kasanga area.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that a group of suspects, allegedly led by one Shakibu, descended on patrons at Chezz Boss Mutoto Bar, assaulted them and robbed four victims of their mobile phones,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
He added that four victims were affected and a case of robbery and assault has since been formally registered at Kabalagala Police Station.
Police detectives have already visited the scene and are working to identify all individuals who participated in the attack. In the course of the investigations, Shakibu Cham, popularly known as Shakib and widely recognised as the husband of socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan, has been summoned to Kabalagala Police Station to assist with ongoing inquiries.
“Police investigators are actively identifying all persons who participated in the attack. One Shakibu Cham has been summoned to report to Kabalagala Police Station to assist with investigations,” ASP Owoyesigyire stated.
Police strongly condemned the acts of violence and lawlessness, assuring the public that the matter will be handled thoroughly.
“The Police strongly condemn acts of violence and lawlessness and assure the public that investigations will be conducted to their logical conclusion to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.
Authorities emphasized that investigations are still ongoing and that more details will be communicated as inquiries progress.
