The family of Dr. Nsaba Buturo, former Minister of Ethics and Integrity, has announced the passing of their daughter, Rachael Ainembabazi Buturo, on December 17, 2025.
Rachael is remembered by friends as kind, warm, and easy to relate with, with many describing her as social and well-loved throughout Kampala’s social circles.
Since the news broke, tributes have flooded in from friends, church leaders, and members of the public, all praising her gentle nature and vibrant personality. 
In a family notice, Dr. Buturo and his wife said the loss has deeply shaken them. The burial programme begins with a vigil on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the family home in Mutungo from 6:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bugolobi Church of Uganda at 3:00 pm, before the body is transported to Kisoro District for burial on December 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
The cause of death has not been made public, though some close friends indicated that Rachael had complained of a migraine before her passing.
Rachael worked in marketing and communications at Housing Finance Bank’s head office in Kololo, where she joined on July 8, 2024.
The bank described her as “brilliant, hardworking, ambitious and a strong team player,” adding that she was dedicated and vibrant.
The loss of Rachael Buturo has been felt widely, as the family and community mourn a young woman whose life touched many.
