Two senior officials of Kamuli District have been remanded by the Anti-Corruption Court over the alleged misappropriation of more than UGX 600 million meant for road rehabilitation.
The accused, Nasser Mukiibi, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and Alex Kifuuse, the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), appeared before the court on Monday, facing charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, which is working with the CID and ODPP, the two officials, along with a third suspect still at large, allegedly processed and approved irregular payments for supplies and services that were never delivered.
The funds, intended for the Nawanyago–Kisozi Road rehabilitation under the 2024/2025 financial year, were reportedly paid to companies and individuals including Raven Knights Ltd, Total Uganda Limited, and district engineer Mufumba Daniel, covering items such as fuel, construction materials, diversion and traffic signs, and allowances.
“Between May and June 2025, the accused abused their office, spending the entire allocation despite no work being carried out,” prosecutors told the court.
The two officials were remanded to continue holding until January 20, 2026, as investigations and recovery processes proceed.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by the government to hold public officers accountable for the management of development funds, particularly those allocated for critical infrastructure.
